Create your own Student Petition Template
This template was created by Anne Phyfe of 8 Limbs. Feel free to adjust the wording to make it appropriate for your studio, however keeping this consistent between studios is important.

"I am a yoga student at 8 Limbs Yoga Centers. I have recently been informed of the classification of yoga as physical fitness (by the DOR). Yoga has a physical component but its primary intention, or purpose, is not physical fitness. The purpose of yoga is to steady the mind. The physical postures, or asanas, are only one of the eight limbs, or aspects, of yoga, which include breath control, concentration, and meditation. I practice for all of these reasons, and physical fitness is only a byproduct of my practice. "

Notes from the Nov 12 meeting @ 8 Limbs
This is from the notes:
"The consensus at 8 Limbs this afternoon was that it is important for all of us to take an active part in clarifying the situation either by showing up at the meeting or by emailing, mailing, phoning the DOR and/or our state representatives. A large number of attendees at the meeting would show the strength and credibility of our community and bring forth the fact that "yoga is the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind", prepares the body for meditation and is not just a physical practice. - we need a united voice, - we need to prepare statements that are well thought-out, - we are going to illuminate not to confront"
